Update: Who wants to read my dog's x-rays for free!

Do you mean “lesion”?

I’d really get an ortho consult from your local referral hospital and or (I’d go with and, personally) a boarded radiologist to review the films. More info and input on these things is nearly always of benefit.

Was she sedated with ketamine? I find that’s hard on many of them. Going with another agent if there’s a next time might be much easier on her.

Hopefully the librela helps her out!

LOL Yes, I mean lesions. … Sorry, I work while I read the forums and sometimes things slip. The funny thing, is that I did it twice !! LOL. Atleast I am consistent.

I am not sure what they used to sedate her. I will keep it in mind to ask for a different seditive should she have to go under again. No Special K for Buma.

I am going to let the Librela do its thing and in the meantime research who I have in the area for additional resources. I am over an hour plus away to most options. I am in North central Pa. I am open for recommendations.

I asked about Adaquan (I had great results with it for my pitty cross) and he said they work differently and Librela is the better choice.

I will also ask about Anicell on our follow up.

No big decisions being made just yet, I want to make her as comfortable as possible, but I know I have to let the meds work in the meantime.

Something I would ask your experts as you get them lined up, is if there’s any additional info to be gained with ultrasound. It may still require sedation, but not anesthesia, and would be a lot less $$ than MRI. Not sure how much it’s used in small animal, but worth asking the question.

You can send those films wherever–you don’t have to be nearby in a geographic sense. Did you ask your current vet about sending the films out for a overread by a boarded radiologist? You can look through pubmed and see who’s working on shoulder lameness.

Just a quick search turns up these guys in NC:

These guys in MO:

Or OK:

Interesting, Tufts is using shockwave:

Oh, hey, these guys in Italy did use ultrasound:

I’m sorry to hear it wasn’t something uncomplicated. Hoping for a good outcome!

Thank you for the articles Simkie!

I have a lot of reading to do !

They work completely differently and don’t overlap at all so both is what I’d try. Librella is a pain blocker and adequan helps produce joint fluid. My dog with gnarly hip dysplasia reacts positively to both. Adequan actually helps more I can tell when it’s wearing off.

Good to hear Stargzng, I will request both and begin her Adaquan series asap.
