What’s the GCVWR on the truck? What does the truck weigh? What does the trailer weigh empty? What are the GVWRs on each? How much do you load onto the trailer?
I’ll bet money you’re overloaded. One way to ruin the towing experience is to burn out a tranny by overloading it.
Look up the numbers and do the math. If you’re under, I owe you a beer!

Ha!!! You owe me a beer!
WELL under all numbers.
Went to a certified CAT scale this past weekend and kicked in the $10.50 to weigh the rig with the trailer empty.
I can’t recall all the numbers perfectly, but I’ll try.
Combined gross max capacity for truck and trailer rating for my truck from Dodge is 20,000 lbs. My rig when it’s empty is at 14,500. 2-3 horses and stuff is unlikely to go over 5500 pounds. (More often 2 horses, not 3 and they’re Tb’s around 1000-1100 lbs. )
Truck alone weighs around 7600 with me and gas, hitch, 4x4, long bed etc. Thus trailer is about 6900 empty.
Tongue weight was around 2300 which was well below the B&W Hitch “Towing Genius” suggestion of no more that 25% of the max tow rating on the truck, in this case 12,850. So 25% would be 3212.5 lbs.

It’s nowhere close to overloaded. We’re just getting used to driving a heavier load. That said it’s really good on the highways and even local roads once you get over 40-50mph.
And I can’t describe enough how much I love my trailer.
