US Rider Service - Bad Experience

Trailguard is MUCH more $$$ 360

Knock on wood, I have not had to use the services of US rider. However, I have REALLY benefitted from the 15% of Riding Warehouse discount over this past year, and the cost is $140. I saved a significant amount on my purchases due to this discount (I was already a RW shopper)

However, I am always open to changing my provider based on new information.

Bumping this old thread up to see if anyone has any other suggestions for trailer services. TIA

US Rider is literally the worst. I’ve never bothered to post a negative review in my entire life, but I am today. They take your money and offer nothing in return. I’ve called 5 times and they have failed miserably every single time. 4-5 hour wait times, cancelled service trucks and then don’t call and keep you up to date. I always end up calling a towing company directly and paying their high fees, but at least they actually send a truck and don’t waste your time and money. US Rider is a complete scam and a waste of money. I’ll be cancelling my memberships. I can’t say enough bad things about them. Don’t waste your time and money.

Hmmmmm. I have had the completely opposite experience. I have had them for 5-6 years. Have had to call 4 times and every time they have helped and I owed nothing. I think the longest I had to wait was 2 1/2 hours, only because the tow company was dealing with an emergency situation/wreck on a major local highway, and I only needed winched.

I know its area dependent, but I have been happy.
Looked into Trail Guard but it was almost 3x as expensive and there was a waiting period to even join.

This has been my experience as well - as I posted up thread. I join you in not being able to say enough bad things about them.

On the other hand I have so far been happy with Trail Guard since ditching US Rider.

LSMarnell – a waiting period to join TrailGuard?? What the…

We’ve had to use our TrailGuard coverage just once, so far, for a flat tire on a trailer (which was about to hit the road for a long haul the next morning) sitting in our driveway. TG was willing to come out immediately but, since it was fairly late at night, we put them off until the next morning – the service showed up bright and early.

We run three trailers of various types, and haul cross-country; the peace of mind is worth the cost. Looking at the covered features on the first page of their website – there’s really no comparison.

Yes. There was a waiting period to join Trail Guard initially and last I had checked. I am not sure if they have done away with that policy.

I have not checked further as I was having a hard time finding out exactly WHY they were better for 3x the price. There were very limited reviews (and still are as far as I am concerned, even checking their FB page that they control.)

I am happy with US Rider still.

I despise USRider! We’ve needed them twice and both times service has been awful.

The first time I needed them the brakes failed on my truck as we were getting on the highway. We were stranded on the side of the on ramp for hours while they tried to get help. A friend had offered to come get our horse but since traffic was whizzing by we hoped to avoid unloading/loading in that situation. When USRider finally got back to us they announced it was going to cost us $900 out of pocket to have the truck and trailer towed with the horse in it. 😱 Luckily our nice policeman came back at that moment to check on us (again) and he offered to wait for our friend to arrive so he could stop traffic. So in about a half hour daughter and horse were safely on their way home while I wait for the tow truck driver. I learn from this driver that USRider does not have a list of horse savvy providers but rather just googled until they found someone willing. This is ridiculous since we are in a very horsey area.

Fast forward to two weeks ago when we arrive at a show and as am dropping the trailer at remote parking I see that the tire has a chunk out of it. After thanking my lucky stars we made it safely, I go back to the show and call USRider to let them know that we need a tire change. My husband insisted he could just change it but no, I insist USRider deserved a second chance. Three hours later I call again. They apologize for the delay but the provider is definitely coming. From the City. Makes no sense but okay. Call again a few hours later. They are so sorry but the provider cancelled and they didn’t know. This is after they promised to keep on top of things for me. It is now 5:15pm on a Saturday. Operator offers to find someone else to come. I laughed and told her not to bother. So my husband got to be right and he changes the tire after all.

After each incident we get a survey to fill out. We give them a horrible review and bad comments. We get a form apology and a few month extension. Woohoo. Glad to hear that people are happy with Trailguard that is who we will be using from now on.

I have not experienced this at all. In fact I gave them a credit card number over the phone and had the confirmation in my email within minutes.

Very happy with Trail Guard’s customer service!!

I guess I don’t understand the draw? I use regular insurance and so far, I’ve knocks on wood only had to call once for a trailer issue. Tire blew on the interstate with enough force it tore the fender off, barely any shoulder to get onto, I call my insurance and they sent out a tow to put the spare on and help me detach a couple pieces of wire and load the fender into the bed of my truck, I stopped at a Les Schwab for them to tighten the nuts a bit more, and away I went. I do pay for the trailer’s separate policy for this reason, so it has its own roadside assistance package. Cost is minimal, maybe $5/per month.

I’ve had US Rider for years. I think I use it once a year and have never had anything but great service. (Knock on wood). Everything from blow outs to a complete engine blow and even locked my keys in my non tow vehicle. Never paid a penny beyond my premium. Maybe it’s your service area. I’ve used it from NW Indiana to KY with no issues.

Long time USRider carrier then I dropped it.

 • change a flat tire in the BHM airport? Easy, quick, they were great
 • Tow a vehicle 30 miles to our home, Easy, quick enough, they were great
 • Diesel lost power leaving the Smokies, would only go about 25 mph, hauling a big 3H GN. Stopped once we had cell service, called everywhere on a Sunday, no luck. Cranked truck, it was fine, lets keep rolling. GO about 45 minutes and loses power again. Repeat. Limp to a gas station and call USRider. 3+ hours later they are still trying to get us the right equipment to haul us home (there were no stables available), and we're going to be out of pocket $$$ because the wrecker only had one row of seats, so they would have to use two wreckers to haul ME. We were maybe 30 minutes outside of Chattanooga. Cranked the truck again, it had full power, screw it, let's go. Turns out we had a bad fuel filter and some warning system would reset after about a 45 minute break so that's how we got home. 9 hours from Bryson City to Birmingham. (5 hr drive)
 • Same issue as above, near Cullman, AL. 2 hours of customer service people I cannot understand while a rider in my truck found a friend in the area who's a mechanic. He did the work before USR could find anyone. I was reimbursed.
 • Flat tire on my big trailer, no WAY I can handle that tire on the side of 840 outside of Murfreesboro, I am just not that strong in my upper body. Flagged down help while waiting on USR. I was off the road maybe 90 minutes total? I gave him 75 bucks for his time, it was worth it in JULY in TN.
So- yeah- we dropped them. I see people using FB and such to round up help, and they just aren't worth the $$$$/

We signed up with US Rider after AAA confirmed they would not assist if we needed help with a horse trailer. Our first experience needing USRider was pretty good but for the six hour response time. The second time, my wife got a flat on two tires alone on a remote highway and USRider said they could not find anyone and to sleep along the road and they would try again the next day! I advised her to call 911 and the Sheriff referred her to a couple places, one who came through with two mounted tires! USRider checked in mid-day the next day to see if she resolved it-not good.
