USEF COVID-19 showing rules

I’m not sure there’s been a definite answer to that-- I am wondering, too. It seems possible that small shows with under 25 people present could run (which would be manageable for a dressage show or a CT) but I don’t see how you could run any kind of event without an exemption from the governor.

I too wish for some communication, anything at all! I cant figure how anyone would enter not knowing how things will be done. I am terrified of what will or will not be done

Looks like so far no one is mentioning that masks don’t stop the virus anyway. I never believed in them anyway, but now it just sounds stupid that so many places are insisting on them. I don’t need the government or USEF to protect me, if I get COVID it was meant to be. Anyone see the study of exposing healthy people to asymptomatic COVID+ people and none of them getting sick?

I just looked at the calendar and my first 2 planned events are cancelled anyway. I find it ironic that the IEA event was rescheduled to the weekend that Penny Oaks used to run.

It’s not that masks prevent. . . They provide a physical barrier that can slow down the saliva spray.

As both USEF and the American Driving Society have posted no more than one person on a carriage they have brought combined driving to a screeching halt. As an advanced driver I am required to carry a groom in dressage and cones, we all have navigators for marathon. It’s all a no go, and as an organizer I’m going to have to cancel an event in September if there isn’t some wiggle room provided. No pairs, no fours, singles only in the lower three levels and marathon only available to the so-called small pony division and the VSEs ( very small equines or minis) who are required to have a backstepper.

At least eventers have some options. . .

Masks are definitely helpful in preventing the transmission of viral illness that is spread by droplet. Why do you think surgical masks are worn in the O.R.?

Again, masks aren’t worn to protect you if you are infected and asymptomatic. They are worn to protect others who may become infected by you and who may die if they become infected. There are many elderly and immunosupressed people in the world. It is not all about you.
