People can get all ideologically amped up against anything that smacks of Socialism and the virus is exploiting the fact that our species refuses to band together to exterminate it.
ETA: Back to the topic (but along with my general taste in explanations): I think this is the USEF passing off the decision, cost and responsibility of COVID exposure notification to someone else. I’m sure some show managers will decide to continue to notify competitors as they can. But it’s honestly cheaper in many, many ways to not have that data at all. I think the USEF will do the bare minimum that is legally or politically required. If their membership doesn’t require that kind of scrutiny and protection from show managers, the USEF won’t bother with the effort.
