Went back to Arab show today. Have a funny story - there was a trainer or groom standing ringside without a mask. Steward showed up, so he took a leg wrap and whipped it around his face a couple of times. :lol:
Probably just as effective as a mask, and we all love the horse smell, right?? We had a chuckle!
Today at the show the TD came around the barns enforcing mass - even when eating!! *really, my friend got read the riot act as she tried to eat lunch. Yesterday, I was selected to be checked after my ride… all visual except she wanted to check my whip but could nto touch it… Can you dismount and measure it? UM, no, we are really far from the barns, on the competition surface, and there in no mounting block to be seen… I sidepassed to the rail where the measuring tape was and laid the whip on it. Lucky I have a good horse.

I showed again last weekend at the same venue, and it went even better. The check-in stickers said the date which I thought was smart, and I used return address labels to save some time on the questionnaire.
I’m not even considering going to any shows at this time. Too many people still not practicing social distancing, some apparently just to prove a point. If only it affected them alone and not others if they are wrong…

OK, so this is 3rd hand, but apparently there was an all hands meeting at the Region 14 Championship Arab show at the Kentucky Horse Park today re: the mask issue. As I understand it, some folks just refused to wear them period. So what came over the grapevine is that the all hands meeting was USEF telling people to wear a mask or else.
This is greatly paraphrased and, like I said, 3rd hand, but it sounds like they mean it. I mean really, folks, get pi$$y about masks at the home show grounds of USEF? At the risk of shutting down one of the biggest Arab shows in the country? Put on the damn mask and quityerbitchin’!!!
ETA: Just heard from someone who is at the show and went to the meeting. This is exactly what happened - the message was: wear a mask or the show is cancelled.
we have been told flat out the if we are not masked at the Florida Horse Park we will be asked to leave - the Park management put this out.
Camden SC show this weekend. They temp checked us and gave wristbands And handed out our packets as we pulled in the grounds. Stabling seemed to be spread out. They had one of the two entrances to the arena area blocked off, funneling to one driveway. The met was parked along side and temp checked and gave out wristbands as you walked down. Of course they were the same color all weekend.
I witnessed one individual give a ring steward flack when she requested that said In mounted Individual put on a face covering. They eventually relented and put a rag up to their face.
I wore my mask when not mounted and near people. I wore it when I had walked my green bean all over creation, even far away from people. It was hot. I have a bunch to rotate. But I wore the thing and was so glad to get to show again.
