It’s sort of funny that they just now started to include the time for the round on the live feed, more than halfway through the class.
Very nice workmanlike round just now by Taylor Cawley. Good for her. I think she’s still pretty young.
I mean, it sounds like I will because of how bad the streams have been.
I took a break to watch the Chicago Marathon finish (um, holy shit) so I missed Avery Glynn on Buzz L’Eclair Teamjoy. How was her trip, and who named that horse, and how much did they have to drink when filling out his paperwork?
Nice round other than a few steps late on a lead change. I think he may have also jumped a bit exuberantly over the water if I’m thinking of the right one.
I believe they showed her with four faults at the end, so I’m not sure if he had a rail somewhere or if he may have landed a little shallow and put a foot on the landing tape at the water jump. It’s hard to tell from the live stream.
Boy, Luke Jensen came to play today. Peek at the water notwithstanding.
Stand by to jog:
113 Joe
123 Luke
124 Amira
128 Carlee
Also standing by:
136 Cecelia Perry
106 Sophia Cady
Here we go with the top four changing horses.
I’m reminded of the old saying that the best ribbon to get at USET finals is fifth, since it saves all the wear and tear on your horse. Lol.
I will be pretty darn surprised if Luke Jensen does not end up with the top ribbon.
Can’t get any sound on the live feed which doesn’t make me happy.
Top 4:
Too bad for Amira on Chacco Blue. She is a beautiful rider.
Carlee rode beautifully on all 4 horses.
Luke did his job - outstanding rounds on all 4 horses
Joe - little rough on his own horse and not great distances on a couple of others.
Think Luke should win with Carlee second.
Amira just keeps knocking on the door. Hopefully one of these finals she’ll get it open. She rides beautifully but there’s always a little something and it would be nice to see all the pieces come together on the same day.
What happened on Chacco Blue?
They had a refusal. Nothing scary, just a little miscommunication on the track to the jump.
I took a junior from my barn to watch the final round and we said the same thing.
Having watched in person, Carlee would’ve been my personal choice for the top call but Luke was brilliant as well. Joe’s horse, awarded best horse, was simply lovely—multiple BNTs and BNRs sitting next to me were commenting about how cheerful he looked going around.
I like the fact that two of the awards are named for great equitation horses of the past, French Leave and Grappa.
Who won best horse?
Franco, the gray one owned and ridden by Joe Craver, who finished third.
Fun story about Gossip SA, the other gray in the top 4: that one has been leased out to a 2’6" kid since after WEF, apparently with a clause that she would be made available to the owner for finals, if needed. Not a lot of the equitation horses at this level can be true teachers in the 2’6" too—what a priceless mare.
Breakdown of the Phase IV results. Looks like the biggest gap between Luke and Carlee were the scores on Carlee’s horse (Luke scored 5 points higher):
