Uvex helmets: do they look "beaky" IRL?

I recently bought the Uvex (the Perfexxion model). It’s extremely lightweight and well-ventilated. It fits nicely and I like the dial-a-fit system, even though I’ve never had a helmet that used that before.

In person, in the black color, it does not look like a bird’s beak. It looks like a low-profile helmet. I’m very happy with it, especially with the hot summer months coming up.

I have a Uvex and like it. I think it has a nice modern look. No, I don’t wear it in the hunter ring, but I think it would look fine in the dressage arena. I really like the way it fits and adjusts. It’s a nice, well-made helmet. I really don’t think it looks beaky. JMHO.

Im over here in Germany, and they are pretty popular with both the jumpers and dressage crews.

Im currently trying to talk myself out of buying this one: http://www.uvex-sports.com/de-en/equestrian/riding-helmets/d/suxxeed-glamour-black/

Which is hands down the sexiest helmet ive ever put on my head.

The other ones? Yes, they are kind of beaky/alien looking on just about everyone, but are super comfortable on.

I’m another fan of the Troxel Intrepid. I opted for the “carbon” colour because I’m a huge fan of the look of the tipperary’s colour/pattern, I hate the feel of the bulky tipperary (and they don’t fit me right anyways). It has a sporty look to it, is super ventilated, the fit system is great and really comfy, and the low profile looks great without compromising protection. I was only able to use it a handful of times before I trashed my ankle, but I used it in some schooling shows and got a lot of compliments. I’d probably go with the black version if I were to use it in anything other than low level shows, but it’s perfect for what I want and need right now.

Hi,

I have a uvex perfexxinon classic helmet. Bahr’s is now selling them. I have the smaller peek on my helmet and it doen’t look beaky to me

P.S. mine is matt black, not gloss

I’m planning to show dressage in my Uvex, its comfortable and safe.

I have one and while I don’t show in it, I would describe it as having a slightly distinct, European look. I don’t think it looks beaky or unattractive at all. It is well made, very comfortable and well ventilated.

My very strong preference is to choose helmets by what fits your head shape well. Not just round vs. oval, but high forehead vs. slanted forehead, etc.

I have an Uvex for schooling. The “beaky” model did look strange on me, so I have the short rounded brim Perfexxion instead. It is my most comfortable helmet, and I’ve had a GPA, IRH, Tipperary (previous schooling helmet), and I still show in a OneK. I think the dial system is great, I can make tiny adjustments depending on the day and even during my ride. The only reason I don’t show in it is I can’t do “hunter hair” because it actually fits so correctly and doesn’t have a huge harness in back to hide the stub of my ponytail.
