Valegro jumps--with quite good form

IMO, the best dressage horses are bred to JUMP! Valegro is no exception - definitely bred to jump well. I always said I bred jumpers for dressage. Nice form, super knees, and bascule!

Dujardin has a pretty solid sense of humor. I think she would be the first person to chuckle at her position.

Americans are just about the only nation who obsesses over jump position (hunters, eq) to the virtual exclusion of other concerns, so Charlotte would probably find this conversation confusing or ridiculous;)

It’s the influence of that Morris person. Most of the EFFECTIVE jump riders in the world would have been abused by him! Mind you, most of the riders in the world do not participate in that prissy “hunter” stuff.

Totally agree ! But a lot of people get paranoid.

I’ve had $2 million race horse colts out in 50 acres paddocks with a friend or two. They are so much happier.

It certainly should be normal, but how many olympic level jumpers or dressage horses normally get a good amount of turnout? Not a lot. And a lot of dressage horses don’t get a great deal of variety in their lives…jumping, hacking out (like really hacking out, not just a loop around the manicured farm), or whatever else.

A lot of low and mid level show horses don’t get turnout or variety either. That’s why pros like Charlotte and Carl and Beezie Madden get attention for this stuff. Charlotte and Carl’s horses get lots of turnout, hacking out etc. Beezie takes her horses shoes off for a few months and turns them out every fall, as well as keeping all her retirees and young horses living out in a herd.

oh you mean like the majority of australians do?
(majority meaning elite riders who have their own property - and I can’t think of a single one who doesn’t have their own place!)

us normal isn’t even close to what’s normal in even europe, let alone the antipodes
