velcro bell boots that last?

I’ve found the Davis bell boots to be the sturdiest velcro bell boots that I’ve used. For turnout I get obnoxious colors–neon orange, sparkly hot pink, etc, because it’s so much easier to find them when they inevitably remove them. That and they never grow legs at a boarding barn.

That said, any of my horses who have been in 24/7 turnout and in need of bell boots, I keep them in the KL Select pull-ons. My current pair are 3 years old and still going strong. There is a trick to getting them off, but once you figure it out, it’s really not bad. I will say I kept my mare in velcro ones during show season, but from October-May, she was in the pull-ons.

RES bell boots. When the velcro starts to wear thin just replace the velcro! It’s genius! http://www.resboot.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=2

Davis or prof choice for Velcro are decent though they all break eventually. Though I use the Italian rubber ones on my own horses who live in bells 24/7, prefer them to the Velcro ones. I don’t find them that hard to get on and off, particularly in the gum color though I usually get black because it is less noticeable. The cheap ones are a lot harder. if you want less expensive the Centaur double thick ones are pretty good too though sized small, I order up about two sizes in those compared to the Italian ones.

I had the best luck with professional choice no-turn ballistic bell boots. 1 pair would last me a good 6 months on 24 hour turnout. I would take them off at least twice a week and wash with the hose and brush the velcro.
