Can I just suggest that this is a missed opportunity for North America??
I would pay $$$ for haulage if it kept my horses coughing and allergies under control AND I didn’t have to fight with barn staff to soak/prep hay as required. Win - win. They can feed they haulage without extra work and I can make sure that the horse gets what is required.
I really wish that Ontario Dehy or some other quality hay/cube supplier would produce haulage.
Why isn’t it a thing in North America? I’ve always wondered. I mean you do have to be a bit careful with it. Such as don’t open a bale and leave it out forever. Usually the horses eat it within a few days-week so I haven’t had a problem. Botulism is a risk with haylage that is left out too long. I don’t know anyone around here that’s had that happen though, so I don’t know what the odds are.
I think they make similar forage products for cows. It’s been awhile since I’ve been to North America.
It’s also nice because my one horse loves his slow feeder net, but he’s got allergies, especially to dust. Soaking hay in a net and hanging said soaked hay can be a pain and a mess. It’s so nice to stuff the net with haylage and he hasn’t had an issue.
