Very premature foal

He is on a regular schedule of bute.

Ah, well, that can’t last forever. Hopefully he won’t suffer from ulcer pain.

In the video she said “micro dose” three times a day, which hasn’t needed to be increased yet; the vet was surprised by this. Why wouldn’t they choose Equioxx instead? Compared to a lot of horses, he has a decent life. Lots of outside time, loads of attention and frequent meals.

Except he’s a yearling+ now.
His pics say 6mo foal to me at best.
Maybe like preemie babies, he’ll eventually catch up in size.
Assuming he lives & stays sound long enough.
At least he’s owned by Deep Pockets & even if her main interest in him is clickbait, his care seems decent.

A quick clip of Seven walking. She’s pretty careful with not putting a lot of video of him out there. This isn’t a link to her accounts, I took this from Reddit

He looks pretty steady in that blip of a video.

Maybe “steady”, but nohow sound :open_mouth:
If my Tried-to-Founder mini came at me walking like that, he’d be on alternating banamine & acetominophen Pronto!

This from today’s newsfeed:
Seven looks like a pony breed yearling at best.
Those legs :disappointed_relieved: posted behind & wonky in front {shudder}

Ugh, those legs!

:disappointed:

This is so clearly unsustainable.

He has a fused fetlock. He’ll never look sound.

Dear Lord I want to take 2 Tylenol every time I see a profile of his back legs. He can’t even use his hind legs to kick flies off his under belly.

It looks like Seven is headed back to the clinic. They’ve been having some growth related issues and needs to have splints made for his hind legs so he’s going back for imaging and a plan for his hind end during his growth. In the video he’s wrapped pretty good on one hind leg.

Oh boy :disappointed:

Those poor hind legs are literally stick straight; I can’t imagine that his suspensories will be able to hold out too much longer - not to mention that arthritis is inevitable.

I’ve noticed KVS frequently refers to, or alludes to, issues with Seven’s growth spurts. I wonder how this is supposed to work out, if some of his joints are fused in place but his tendons and ligaments are growing. It’s like he’s being pulled in different directions. Poor thing.

The fused joint is a front fetlock, I don’t recall any other joints being fused.
Nothing to do with his sad looking hind end, which has been concerning for me for a long time.

The only good thing to come from his life is to show people who have very premature foals to just give them a kind end, and the scholarship that KvS has asked her followers to donate to.

Ah, okay. Thanks. I guess so much has been done to him and his legs are so wonky that I couldn’t remember. Those hind legs… They seem barely functional and not bendy at all.

It looks like Seven had a procedure to remove bone fragments in his right stifle.

Yes he had OCDs that were removed successfully.

As soon as I read “bone chips removed from stifle” I immediately thought, “OCD lesions.”

What does that mean? What are OCD lesions?

Basically bone chips in a joint. Usually they are quite small and don’t cause a problem, but they can. If you want a better overview this one is pretty good.
