Doesn’t that show their level of cluelessness …
My previous comment, x2. She dug this grave for herself.
I imagine she’s sorry she didn’t let him go day 1 or will be after she does. So much stupid…or maybe she should send him to live with the 3 legged colt?
ETA at least if nothing else, Seven’s life has shown why to not try to save extreme premies in horses.
That’s exactly where my mind went. People like Rocking R and Katie make people believe that these horses are A-ok, living a happy jolly life.
The truth could not be further from that.
But it’s easy to make a charade when all you have to show are short video clips.
While I think there was some SM influence in keeping the baby alive, I also think she was sucked into “one more thing”. I, and I think most of us, would have euthanized when the vet said he couldn’t be allowed to stand for months. But once she started down that road, “improvements” like being able to stand kept her trying the next thing. Yes, I think she considered the clicks, but I also think she thought he could have some pain free time. I wonder if the vets were enabling or if this was her not facing facts right away.
I have seen well-meaning owners put horses through months of pain trying to resolve a painful problem that most reasonable people would know will never be fixed (and a vet that enabled that)
I mostly blame the owner for not making the call early on when it was apparent it was a long, difficult road in the best case scenario. Later on, I can see how it came to be “well, we’ve gone this far…” Very glad that she is talking about reality now.
The comments are crazy, but many of her viewers just seem ignorant of horses and their care, so not so surprising. And this is the internet!
The internet is here to remind us that half the people are stupider than average as always.
I have the impression from the comments that she has considerable secrecy around her actual location and possibly some security for the horses? She knows these people are crazy and potentially dangerous. I wonder if she’ll back off SM for a while after this.
Quote of the year!!!
I won’t be surprised if someone suggests cloning Seven.
She has had people come on to her property in the past and she has had to make posts about her farm being private property on more than one occasion.
I agree. The videos of Dr. Ursini were always encouraging and when $ isn’t a factor, it’s harder to pull the plug. Katie has stated that when people with preemies call her for advice, she recommends euthanasia for their foals based on what she’s experienced. She has so much money, she doesn’t need to keep 7 alive to pay the mortgage…
I think half is an understatement…
Likely. Half are stupider than the median but it’s entirely possible far more than half are stupider than average. The internet does may you wonder…
omg. sad and true. you just know it’s coming.
I was surprised that these pictures were posted. Usually she edits out Seven moving, but maybe these pictures are just another way to ease the followers into reality on why euthanasia is looming for the near future?
Poor guy - his eyes just look sad. And his legs are a trainwreck. I know it will be hard emotionally to pull the plug, but this isn’t going to get any better. I hope I have learned a lesson here and never attempt anything like this.
From a science standpoint cloning him actually would be an interesting look at if his issues were genetic or related to being so premature. Did his poor genetics cause him to be premature or was the fact that he was premature the cause of these issues?
But from an ethical standpoint, hell no. No one do this. The information gained isn’t worth it.
That close up photo of his front legs is… I’m not sure what word I’m searching for… horrifying? Alarming? Pathetic? I can’t imagine the chronic pain and discomfort. Do it, KVS. The sooner the better.
I hope that she is wise enough to not make a “we’ve planned on this day” video and only posts after the appointment is done, because you know some of her fans would show up to protest or do something crazy like try to steal him to “save him”
Horrifying for sure.
And I was traumatized as a kid by the by the Me & My Horse reader stories of people keeping their horses alive longer despite needing the neighbour to come over with his tractor every morning to lift the horse back to its feet!
I have no words that adequately describe how I feel about this situation.
