I always know the price of what I am ordering or I don’t order it. How nice you have unlimited income at your disposal that you don’t need to know what things cost.
Yes we do live in a very different world.
I doubt the CC company will reimburse her solely due to the fact she was denied knowing the total cost before her card was charged but if she tells them what happened who knows? No harm in trying.
I don’t have unlimited funds at all. I also do not insist on being reimbursed or not paying for something when the mistake was mine for not asking the price ahead of time. That is where we differ, you were the one insisting the OP have the credit card company reimburse her.
There is harm in trying, it is just wrong. The credit card company should not have to eat this, this is not their fault.
You seem to take great pleasure in adding things to what you read? I didn’t insist on anything? OP said something about disputing the charge in his/ her original OP( see below) and I said That I would contact them and see what they say?
That is what disputed charges are for. In my mind this is a type of fraud and the vet had no right to charge her this fee without her approval but they did.
I have never disputed a charge in that way because I know what I am being charged before I hand the card over. I never have charges automatically taken out of my bank accounts or on my card for this reason.
Pergolide is the name of the drug/active ingredient.
Prascend is the brand name used by the pharmaceutical company that manufactures tablets of Pergolide
I think a few posters need to read my OP again.
Anyway…
Wedgewood has a policy that they won’t give price info w/o having the prescription - which is off-putting.
But one of the WW techs told me the price for 100 of the 1mg capsules.
So I knew that I could expect around that price - and a bit lower when ordering 100 of the .25 mg capsules. (To taper up).
I also knew what others on the ECIR group were paying at Wedgewood.
I would never buy anything w/o knowing the price up front.
I had explained to our vet that I wasn’t comfortable splitting the Prascend tablets after reading the warnings.
Eye irritation and headache.
I have problems enough with my severe dry eyes. The vet seemed to understand and called in for compounded.
I had expected to talk to WW once script received to request overnight shipping and make sure my address was correct.
And to make sure the cost was what I expected.
I was told the meds already paid for and shipped. And they wouldn’t tell me the invoice amount - that I had to call the vet clinic. WTH?
Tech at clinic told me the invoice amount - what they charged my Visa card.
Which turned out to include $127 extra she called a handling fee - when I later questioned the charges.
I had gotten a copy of WW’s original invoice.
$96.50 for 100 of the .25 mgs.
I don’t know who set it up that clinic would be billed - not me (as I had expected).
But doing it that way the clinic was able to add whatever they wanted.
$127 as upcharge seems like an arbitrary figure.
Our vet’s name was not on the Rx - the owner of the clinic’s name was.
I never met him.
I guess they thought I was naive not to know the cost of the drug.
Simeone upthread said I was blindsided.
Yes.
I had no reason to think the meds would not be billed and shipped to me.
They were shipped directly to me from the out of state pharmacy.
The clinic never touched them.
I had been with that clinic for only a few months.
I found out from other boarders that clinic is known to price gouge.
Unlike the clinic we were with for years.
The two vets who cared for my horse I trusted completely.
No way would they have upcharged like this.
One vet took a position at a top clinic on the east coast.
The other one started a family and decided on small animal work/hours.
With current clinic I now ask specifically for bill and ship to me.
I don’t like or trust the clinic for this and other things they’ve done / not done. @Ghazzu I’m also an old hippy.
Peace, Love and don’t screw who you can.
So this vet is not the vet who took so long to give a diagnosis. Interesting.
For the record, I think this upcharge is excessive. I too would be upset about this size of an upcharge.
I was simply saying that this is not something I think warrants the involvement of the credit card company.
Does anyone know what 100 g of the compounded Pergolide powder costs from WW? I know my vet upcharges it and I don’t have a problem with that, I am just wondering how much. Thanks!
