Viva Voltaire, anyone?

I owned one. Great canter, OK walk/trot, decent mind but VERY alpha. He was a kicker and a bucker.

I could not keep him sound. He always was NQR. Perhaps that explained his issues u/s.

Mine was a TB cross- with a very nice approved mare that had dropped some lovely foals. My Viva was heavy-boned and more of the old school type WB even with TB on the bottom.

I do like the G lines as a rule, but not sure I would own another Viva. Just anecdotal on my end though.

Fred, if you ever do get out to see him, let me know. We are literally 2 minutes from the farm and my daughter is to begin working there soon.

I own one. She is a very nice mare. More modern type then I expected from Viva who can throw fairly heavy. Mine is out of a Swedish Mare, but the granddam is full TB. She has lovely gaits, super type and a very nice jump. She is very forward, not really a hunter brain…more jumper or dressage…she likes to go go go:)

Thank you dilligaff- what a great idea, it would be nice to meet you and your daughter!

I rescued a Viva Voltaire gelding - he had contracted tendons as a foal that weren’t dealt with properly and as a result, had the most messed up hoof I have ever seen. He was apparently broke wtc (though how they were riding him on that hoof, I do not know!). He was also apparently good for the farrier, stood in crossties, ect.

Yeah, we got him home and he had no freaking clue about anything - basically a enormous 3 year old yearling. Thank god he had a wonderful, sweet personality, which I believe was a result of his sire. Within in no time he was easy to handle and an all round cuddle bug.

Once his foot was almost back to normal, we sent him on to a new home.
