Weanling Accommodations + Feeding Suggestions

I had another question come up that I think you are likely very qualified to answer–we have a short, 40 yards give or take, gravel pathway to the barn that I’m taking the little guy up and down most days. He’s not at all footsore on the rocks (even trotting downhill, which can be a sight in his current gangly state :joy:), but I’m noticing some small chips in his hooves. The farrier will be out next week for a rasp and we will confer, but my hunch was that rockier terrain was probably good for his hooves in small doses. Is that accurate, or should I stick to softer ground?

Thank you again for all the expertise you lend to this and other threads!

Yes, the gravel is excellent conditioning for his feet, starting small like you’re doing

Just get a rasp and buff out the chips…some between trim cosmetic work. Gravel is great to add in the mix they need of varied terrain.
