Maybe where you came from or maybe the horse people you were associated with had lower quality standards for soundness/ longevity but not mine.

I’m an equine nutritionist. I suspect my definition of “excellent hay” is much higher than average. I’m well aware of the typical quality of hays of multiple species from all over the country, thus my conclusion that excellent hay is not easy to come by.

And even excellent hay is not perfectly balanced.

Once more, PLEASE point out where I have advocated feeding “so much” feed. I’ve said the horse should be fed the APPROPRIATE amount of a feed that meets its requirements.
