Is the the same was what vets used to call lymphosarcoma? My first Aussie got lymphosarcoma, in his lymph nodes and on his testicles, when he was 14 yrs old. Vet saved his testes although I said take them off, he said no and took off the cancer from one testicle. I decided on palliative care since Boo was 14. Vet gave pain meds, we fed Boo everything he wanted to eat and he was always a chocoholic, so he got tons of calories to try to keep his weight up. He lived until he was 16 when I had to pts. A few years later my then boyfriend’s older english cocker got lymphosarcoma and had to be put to sleep within 6 months because of pain.
I’ve never put any of my dogs or cats through chemo. One out of 5 dogs, I’ve read, will die of cancer. I don’t know the %age of cats, but I’ve lost 2 of them to cancer out of many cats. Lost some dogs to bone cancer and some to liver cancer too. Lost my english lab to nose cancer.
I had neighbors in Atlanta whose yorkie went into remission after chemo for a couple of years.

I once changed my dogs diets totally to try to keep them from getting cancer. I was hit by an 18 wheeler and lost 2 out of 3 dogs in my vehicle to the accident. I decided mine could eat read meat again and cut out the broccoli and cauliflower and fish.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
I hope this isn’t another step in the hip sisterhood.
Thank you.
Me too.
I fear I’m not going to have a ton of time… cry
Sorry Invested. I know how much it hurts. Here’s hoping for no time soon.
Honestly, can’t one of you have something going on that I want to copy?!
Thank you and I’m so sorry to hear of your losses – heartbreaks, all of them.
Toby is almost 11 so I’ve decided against chemo. He’s on prednisone and a couple “immune booster” supplements and I’m, of course, doing a ton of research into other potential avenues.
Cancer sucks.
Well hopefully he’ll do as Boo did and have a couple of good year of life.
The bone cancer in 2 young dogs was short and painful, even with morphine patches.
The liver cancer was in an 11 yr old and 15 yr old dogs.
I was reading yesterday that frankincense ok don’t know about my spelling, is being used by some humans to prevent cancer. I had never heard that. Going to ask my vet if OK to give to animals including horses.
I forget the herbal the vet had my mother give to my father’s Brittany when the old dog got cancer. It’s a human herbal sold at walgreen’s. I’ll go thru the store this week. It helped the Brittany with pain and all He was on pred also as was my lab with nasal cancer. Lab was 9 yoa. I forget age of my deceased father’s Brittany.
As long as your dog is eating and not in pain, you and the dog have hope.
I came back to update that I put my dog to sleep this morning. Due to renal failure, not lymphoma. Her lymphoma never came back after the CCNU treatment. She lived nearly 2 years 8 months after diagnosis and would have been 12 years old on 11/4.
I’m so sorry, OTTBs, and to all the others who have lost their furry friends, to this horrible disease. Our sweet Josie lived a year with it, and we put her down, before she got bad. We fed her tons of treats, and she laid her head on my lap, wagging her tail, up until the end.
She left us with a gift though, and that’s our Yorkie mix, Lucy. I would’ve never looked for another dog, but 6 months after Josie’s diagnosis, I knew we needed one. And, shortly after, I found a cute Yorkie mix, in need of a home upgrade, and spaying.
Sge didn’t replace our Josie, but she did help fill the hole that Josie left behind.
