What do we know about the stallion Heisman?

Thanks, Reg. Yup, Omni was a cribber but his son, by my Rubinstein mare is simply wonderful without vices (Dickens). As is the other son, Tchula who must be getting close to 17 hands.

Omni had about 10 foals, I’d guess. Two of them I bred… there are several here in VA, eventers bred them. Deedee Clarke had one.

My little Dicken is just a doll. Here he is at his inspection http://www.photoreflect.com/store/Orderpage.aspx?pi=0EBK008F0D0000&po=0&pc=64

I acknowledged it was an old thread when I resurrected it. I have a Heisman grandson here and thought some Heisman fans would like to see him.

Nice baby by Omni. That was a good cross for sure.

As you say, this is an old thread, but you can see that I have not been here long, so this is a new thread to me.

So since VAbred showed hers, I will show mine.
This is my Heisman grandson, a 17.1h, gelding - thanks!

Do you just love yours O2BRiding?

Oh yes! He is so kind, easy to work with and a ton of fun to ride.

Yes Heisman had a career ending injury. He ruptered his DDF when he landed after a fence in a class in Florida. He came home and rehabbed for over a year and was then brought back slowly to work. He could be hacked but was never competed again. He was only bred to a few mares each year as Sale was not particularly driven to run a big breeding operation. She also had the satllion Golan. Heisman was not very fertile and he did not settle that many mares. I rode for Sale at that time and had the honour of being the first one to back him after his injury. He was a big horse…

I have a mare by him on the barn right now. She has his build but is black with white legs. Love this mare and cannot wait until she retires to the broodmare life.

Another Heisman grandson

I just bought a son of Omni. He has an amazing personality and though we have not done much yet, I have great (albeit amateur) expectations.

Wow - this thread gets resurrected once again!

I had a Heisman mare that I bought from Joan Watt many years ago - a product of her wonderful breeding program - Kyrie D’Triomphe. I bred her to my Guaranteed Gold stallion and sold her in foal to a trainer/rider in NY - Myrna Treuting. The resultant coming 3 year old gelding shows phenomenal jumping form. He will be a lot of fun to watch!

Myrna - I believe - is looking to breed Kyrie to Gemini Twist. It will be a really neat cross and really looking forward to seeing what that mating produces as well

And I do agree - there are SO few Heisman offspring around - period. He was such a neat stallion. Its fun to hear about his grandsons and grand daughters now …

I love it that this thread is back!

Heisman fans unite!

Tell us more about him.

How cool! I didn’t even know this video clip existed …

I have a Heisman grandaughter, out of Kyrie D’ Triomphe. She will be 5 in July. She’s been a late bloomer but boy did she bloom!!! She is LOVELY. She was no problem to break, is a lovely mover and can JUMP! Also has the BEST mind

Nice to hear the grandbabies are so good!! I bred my mare Can’t Act to Heisman after seeing him jump at Devon. Kyrie D’ Triomphe was the result. Kyrie debuted the Hampton Classic pinning with a new rider who needed her in a pinch. Absolutely beautiful rider from a mare who has not mileage in the AA’s.
Can’t Act is also the dam of Grande Saber. You can’t go wrong with that mareline!

Funny to see this thread, Kyrie is one of my daughter’s favorite rides- she has done clinics and shown with her and loves her. Her 3 yo is for sale and I think will finally give GG a performer offspring in the show ring, probably as a small junior hunter, a testament to Kyrie’s quality and the Heisman influence.

And just read on FB that the lady I sold Kyrie D’Triomphe to is breeding her to Gemini Twist …

Crossing my fingers SO hard that they see the coveted black dot in a few weeks time on THAT upcoming foal!

GemniTwist X Heisman - So excited to see Kyrie being utilized! I was lucky to get one baby by him since Heisman had so few offspring. The breeder in me is really happy today!!!

I have a Heisman offspring and have always been curious to know about Heisman, but haven’t had much luck in my internet searches. I learned more in this threat and searching on COTH then I had in years!
