What do you consider "fancy"?

It is a sales word that I have learned to ignore in ads unless I know who is advertising it.

Well lets start with a perfect example: Betsee Parker’s Inclusive (Captain). He’s a freak and amazing.

I agree with what calvincrowe says but I have one caveat from an amateur perspective. Fancy is as fancy does! You can be the fanciest, prettiest hunter with lots of chrome who wins the hack, yanks its knees and has perfect changes but if its a total spook or a general idiot then you can keep it as far as I’m concerned. Fancy is only good in my world if it comes with a great and obedient mind.
Agreed!! If the average person can’t ride it, it’s still “fancy”, just not as useful!!

What do I consider “fancy”?

Ketchup

Like CBoylen said, fancy is a relative term. Just like describing a horse in potentially relative and generic terms like pretty or expensive or as a winner.

Also, it can be used to describe just one feature…“fancy trot,” “fancy jump,” etc.

I don’t think chrome has anything to do with is (though if the horse is described as “flashy” I do expect chrome).

As chunky munky said, I don’t give any weight to the term unless it’s coming from someone I know.

You have to spell it Catsup for it to be fancy…

I just wonder if anyone else agrees with me that a lot of the top hunters look fat. I mean, noticeably fat. It has been striking me more and more lately, and it struck me again when I looked up some videos of Inclusive.
I wasn’t going to say anything until I saw this, but yes, I was surprised to find the horses mentioned looking like fat ponies (after YouTubing them) :o. Lovely rounds though!

Something that’s absolutely out of my price range.

Anyone have info on Rumba? Fabulous horse onto waste!
Has Rumba done anything with Destry Spielberg that even approaches the kind of wins he had under John French? I’m not slamming Destry - she’s a nice rider - but Rumba is still being promoted as the creme de la creme four years after that jaw-dropping perfect score hunter derby win.
He got hurt and is just getting back into showing but since he is west coast he’s not noticed as much. He is still a perfect example of a gorgeous hunter regardless of wins.
