What do you pay for dog sitting (farm setting)?

Dogs (2 large GSD) have large outdoor run/pen with attached houses. Duties would include (once daily) feed, check/replace water, clean run (scoop poop), walk 20 min or so, +/- brushing one of the dogs (long hair). I would imagine total time to be an hour-ish.

Looking for an estimate for what to expect to pay. No horses need to be taken care of, or any house duties.

Thanks!

I get payed 50 per day for dog sitting two large dogs, no walking involved. $40 a day for one dog, including a walk.

I pay 50 a day for 2 medium dogs, 3 cats (cats are easy, just throw food at them 2x a day).

For once a day, I’d expect to get pay $25-30 if you want a walk and brushing. Just feeding, changing water, and a quick poop clean up, maybe $15 if it’s not too far of a drive.

I dog sit in an expensive area though. I live in the middle of no where, so I expect to pay more for someone to come over.

No guesses on pricing, sorry.

I got the name/number of the great dog walker I used during my puppies crate training phase from my vet. Worth a call to the vet’s office to see if they have any suggestions.

$25 a visit is the going rate. For farm sitting and to have someone stay here, starts at $100/day.

Lisa is terrific, cannot say enough good about her!!

Also fantastic with horses.

The bad news for us…she is moving to the Ocala, Fla area sometime in January… I dont know what I will do! So would also be interested in any leads, especially if they also do horses.

I pay $20 a day for a dog which includes 2 visits and 1 walk a day. If I have a foster cat, then my sitter usually gives me a break and I just pay an extra $5 a day. I have been lucky and had someone stay with my boy the last few times that I have left him. This last 3 week break in december, he will be looked in on 2x a day. He is an easy dog to deal with. People don’t charge too much since they tend to be doing multiple pets a day and make a killing watching animals while the rest of us go home.

(This is in the caribbean with vet students.)

I pay the going rate for if I were to kennel my large dog. Luckily I have had a few college kids who were nearby, able to spend the night to let her out right before bed and in the morning and feed 2x a day. The kids got some extra money for expenses, I had my dog and my house looked after and the dog was much less stressed. I guess only the kennel lost out.

Reliability is the key - we went away and it seems the resident dog sitter was not there over night - dogs just pee’d out of desperation.

Will the sitter be staying the night or just stopping by once a day? I used to pet sit, and I always stayed overnight with the pets. For your dogs I’d charge $35/day. With your set up they’re pretty easy to take care of (assuming they don’t have any special needs?)

Farm sitting varies. If a family had a horse and a pony in their backyard, the price wouldn’t go up much. If there were a lot of horses to manage, the price went up. If I went back to pet sitting, I’d be charging at least $100/day for farm sitting (includes me staying at the facility.)

If they’re not staying overnight and don’t have to travel super far, then I’d plan on paying about 35-50/day. If you hired a professional service (around here) it would be about double that.

I have an older lady who’s grand-daughter rides at our barn that pet sits in your area and is fantastic. Can’t say enough about how nice this lady is. If you would like her info I would be happy to forward it to you. If you have horses in the Raleigh area I horse sit; clean stalls, turnout, feed, etc.

I charge $15 per visit for most jobs. I have had to up it for people with an absolute menagerie. Yours would likely be a $15 job.
