What does a quality hunter prospect yearling cost?

@Laurierace Coco is just the sweetest! She certainly is big enough too! I will keep that in mind . I can’t wait for the arrival of your Bunny this spring!

Thank you everyone for the additional information- I am reading it all with interest and am taking notes. This seems like a legitimately viable idea as a way to one day replace my horse with something of high quality. I think I need to continue to do my homework by researching programs and bloodlines, and I need to decide whether a custom breeding, weanling, yearling, or 2 yr old would best suit my needs- all of which would effect the timeline of this project.

Thank you for all the wonderful COTH wisdom!!!

Lots of super information and it sounds like you’re on the right track! My suggestion would be to keep your options open. If you decide you’re open to everything from in-utero to a 3 yr old, just keep an eye on what’s for sale in your budget across all those categories and see what shows up. Sometimes the best horses just fall into your lap and you never know what might show up in the right place at the right time.
