You aren’t missing a thing. Moving a mask on and off from your face to your neck repeatedly makes you vulnerable to viral transfer. It requires touching your face, which we all know is a bad thing to do. However, considering the difficulty in persuading some people to use masks at all, educating them about the proper use of a mask or face covering seems nigh on impossible.
All we can hope for is the ubiquitous use of hand sanitizer and a lot of luck, but we seem to be losing the battle here in the U.S.
Unfortunately USEF seems determined to have Pony Finals during a pandemic. The number of parents helping children put masks on and off, inevitably touching the child’s face with their hands, as well as older children being expected to understand how to properly use a mask, is a disaster in the making.
