What should I expect to pay?

It definitely possible to get one for well under 500k but you have to be ok with the fact it might not be perfect.
They do come to market, but usually have some sort of issue that might be seen as a dealbreaker to a lot of people. Maybe it has a stop sometimes, or needs a really particular ride, or is only sound if the rider preforms a rain dance every Tuesday at midnight while wearing a neon pink leotard.

It’s kind of how it is with all horses we purchase; I’m looking for a 1.20 jumper right now. I’ve seen ones with show records for as low as 12k and for as high as 150k. Both win, it’s just about what problems can you live with and what problems are absolute dealbreakers to you. With an unlimited budget, you get the unicorn horse. Us mere peasants must ride things with ‘issues’ :smiling_imp:

To be sure, in my own world I own the pink tutus and unicorn horns and and am up every Tuesday at midnight. I don’t think the barn aisles are full of these same dancers at WEF or indoors. But I could be very wrong.

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know if small juniors are priced similarly to large juniors?

More expensive, in my experience. Harder to find.

That’s what I’ve always heard, too. It’s harder to find a smaller horse with the step to still make it down the lines.
