What size dry lot for 3 horses (or per horse)?

So how is it going? I just created an elect tape and step in post sacrifice/drylot for my pony for jan n feb till my grass gets back growing. His is about 50 x 40 and I have the hay feeder situation longways at the top of the drylot and the tape tensioned onto the vertical poles with zip ties lol. My senior I let stay out on the one pasture area i have that stays decently green since its on the creek side of my property. It is about 60 x 195.

When its super rainy the next few days I may try to half off the lot running tape from my barn opening, since it opens into the drylot and I have mesh gates for stalls. My plan is to connect tape to the stall gates on both sides of the barn opening and run it out to the hay feeder and connect it again w zip ties to the bottom poles of the feeder.

Pony will only have about a 16x 40 run those days but can go into his stall to stay dry, and my senior will have the other 16x40 area w his stall open and the elect tape gates open to his pasture so he can choose where he wants to be since I worry more about his staying moving and his gut staying active. I think if I tried to drylot him even for a day he would run the small area n get hurt/sore/ colic.

Would love to see the set up you ended up going with, happy new year!!!

Hi @carman_liz I’m hoping to get it done this year. I still have a contractor working my back lot and that means he would be driving through my little dry lot. I’m getting pretty excited about it. It sounds like you have a great set-up. Happy New Year!
