You gotta watch those Barred Rock males if they’re from hatchery or backyard stock, actually the females too, they are fierce!!! I have a zero tolerance policy on my standardbreds, you do more than puff up a bit and you’re dinner, doesn’t matter who you are. I had a pair that was the only hatched from an outside line I had purchased eggs to hatch, and I really wanted to hatch from them and keep both lines. That cockerel not only was an enormous vicious bully to the pullets, but he BIT ME severely when I went to move him to a different pen. We stopped right there, boom gone. Not having it.

We used to do that, but we stopped because while we did get some pullets, we also kept getting too many cockerels, and that just doesn’t work for us LOL

Friend had an Ameraucana rooster that was as nice as Monster, she’d carry him around like a stuffed toy… With a good 6" set of Spurs 
He was part of a Ginormous flock - 100+ - with several roosters. This guy was King, the other roosters bowed to him, no bloodshed unless a young buck got feisty. Usually just once 
Monster is gorgeous! I love that his feathers have a greenish/blueish color. Kinda like he’s iridescent. It’s great that he’s nice too.
