What's your favorite breed?

HAFLINGERS!

Intelligent, personable, big heart with an “I can do anything” attitude. Love the size too.

I love my ISH ( 1/2 irish draught 1/2 TB) great mind, and great mover. I don’t think I’ll ever own anything other than an Irish bred horse in the future.

Saddlebreds - Love their brains, they love to learn and they’re more like a German Shepherd when training.

So based on these responses, do you think that most people that post here don’t ride WB’s, or so they ride them and just don’t consider them their favorites?

I have been just dying to ride one of these guys! They use them in the local therapeutic riding program and they are so sweet and sane!

Well welsh cobs of course, both C & D. I also have a distinct soft spot for a well built arab. My son’s crabbet mare just helped him win third place at is competitive trail challenge this weekend - solid mind, sound body and very sure footed.

the first horse I loved was a westfalian, and being a westfalian meself, I’m rather partial to them.

That said, I could love a horse of any breed. Each have their gifts and neuroses.

Appys seem to choose me… I’ve got an accidental herd of them…

I think it’s more likely that those of us who don’t have WBs are going to speak up on a thread like this. Some responses also seem to indicate that the “favorite breed” was based on a past horse, and the person now rides WBs.

(It’s also been pointed out that WBs are not a breed or breeds per se, as much as horses who belong to a particular set of registries.)

Yes you are so right! We WB owners would have to say that we love our TB & Arab crosses since our horses aren’t breeds and tend to have more TB and Arabian blood than that of the “native breeds” from whence they were derived. Which is why I love TBs best, not only the purebred TBs, but the 1/2 TBs who happen to be WBs.

Without TBs and Arabians, there would be no WBs. (My TB mare was a cousin of my WB.)

I find the ‘full’ Hannoverians not to my liking at all. I have found after 30 years that I am really partial to a ‘1/2’ thoroughbred type of warmblood. They seem MUCH more sensible by far to train and ride.

I like a WB with some “blood” in them too.

Guess that’s why I like trakehners.

When I bred my anglo-trak mare I found a SWB stallion that had a good bit of TB on both sides in the 3rd gen. Also a lot of traks in the 5th gen. I really liked that and I love the foal I got!
