Then just move up when you have everything a good quality for your horse, especially at schooling shows. I don’t enjoy riding the best test my horse can do and being out of the ribbons at a USDF show. It is too expensive.
A lot of horses can make up for their gaits at the lower levels by being obedient, and a lot of horses can start on good scores with amazing talent, and make a few mistakes and get by with it.
The average ammy, like me, with a nice but average mover, needs to ride a clean and bold test but can get in the high 60s/low 70s if it goes well.
