Don’t want to scare you - but it was the injectors that was the rabbit hole for us. It’s finally done, but injectors turned into the fuel lines needing to be replaced (because they had to cut them off to get the injectors out), then it was was the valve lashes were being temperamental, then it was one of the transmission electrical connectors with a bent pin, etc…
I’m salty about it, as SO had JUST terminally damaged the car, and the month it took to get the truck right involved a rental car for 3 weeks. Don’t get me wrong - I love my early 2000s diesel for towing, but it was a nightmare of a September for us. I had not budgeted for both injector replacement AND a new second vehicle in a single month.
