I feed whole flax to my Appy mare with skin/allergy issues and naturally fragile hooves and it’s wrought pretty close to miracles on both fronts. I get it dirt cheap in bulk at the local WinCo. She probably would be getting more of the nutrients out of it if it were ground, but I board and it’s just more simple for her to get it whole and it seems to be working very well as is.
Thanks everyone for the great info!!! I will contact horse tech on Monday and see what they can do. It is also good to hear that people are having good results feeding it whole. I wasn’t sure if feeding whole though cheaper would be a waste of time because it would just pass through.
As for the vitamin E, I will see if horse tech can add it. Based on hay and what my man in getting in grain our selenium is good just low in vitamin E.
