Who else makes kids cry?
I grew up with a GSD and never had anyone approach or ask to pet her. We now have two labs and I am still getting used to the fact that people will approach without warning to pet them, hug them etc.
This. I have a toy breed who gets zero respect or space bubble. Next time, I’m getting a liger!

I haven’t made any children cry (yet ) but I did absolutely mortify a dopey frat boy a few weeks ago. My dog is small, cute, and fortunately friendly, but stupidity knows no bounds when it comes to walking in Greenwich Village. While crossing the street, frat boy shoves his hand into my dog’s face to pet him. He got a lecture on why you should always ask before petting a dog, how many dogs don’t want to be petted by strangers and some are downright not friendly to them, and how NO dog wants a person to lunge at their FACE to pet them. I really don’t think he expected that from me (not much older than him and about a foot shorter!) but sorry, don’t be a dick to my dog. Guy’s face was a shade of American flag red and he profusely apologized. Hopefully he learned his lesson!

I have a 4 month old springer puppy. She is 22 pounds of inexhaustable energy. I am happy to have anyone pet her and go out of my way to get her exposed to all types of people.

Yesterday a toddler (two year old) started waddling over to her while mom was at the car (in eye sight, but doing something). I knew kid wasn’t going to ask, so I asked “Would you like to pet the puppy?” to at least try and instill some sort of pause.

I had to basically lay on my puppy, who was so excited by these kids. She is VERY well behaved, but she is a springer puppy and she is pretty mouth. Thankfully she just gave kisses.
