Why do they care what tweed we wear?

Fair point. I was never anywhere that fancy.

Sure they did. Everyone? No. Lots of folks? Yes. Gobs and gobs of it? Not that common, but some did. Was the judge I scribed for an absolute outlier in mentioning lack of makeup as a negative thing? I certainly hope so!

I believe when Joan Lunden used to show in the adult hunters, she wore a somewhat noticeable amount of makeup.

But given her day job, maybe she felt unfinished without it.

Anything on David Bowie would be OK, anywhere.

I am pretty sure I know who this is.

Hee! I’m torn on wanting to know whether you guessed right or whether there were 2 like-minded judges out there at that time

This should come as no surprise to you, but there was, and still is, dressage in other places, too.

So is tweed legal? Can I order one of those blazers on Amazon that are show coat looking for 49.99 and get away with it? I just thinking this might be a great way to easily/cheaply match my boots.

@VodkaRedbullx2 - “Subtle” tweed is allowed, and what is subtle is very subjective

There are some examples shown on page 13 - https://www.usdf.org/education/A%20Visual%20Guide%20to%20the%20Dressage%20Attire%20Rules.pdf?t=2/9/2022%206:13:05%20PM

It’s hilarious to see it supported on Facebook etc. “They’re bred for it! It’s natural for them!”

And I’m a QH fan from way back who used to be neck deep in that world.

Well now you have to provide a link for the rest of us!

Of course I am aware. I made a general statement and should have been more specific. But I am not the one yelling NO like it never happened. And, in those days, these were the top national and international riders. I was merely a plebian observer. My trainer was in that crowd and she says the female riders in Wellington still do wear lipstick.

Wow, subtle is indeed very subjective, going by this! It looks like there’s a lot more leeway in boots and breeches than in jackets.

SH!t, in Wellington (and the rest of S. Florida), ladies wear their makeup and diamonds to go to the supermarket!!! (I grew up there, still have family there, and yep, “dressed” any time you go out the door)

Boots and helmets totally unregulated. Breeches just about any non-neon single color (not counting full seat).
Yet, I mostly see white breeches.
And it seems there is less bling than in recent years.

I’m sorry, what??
