Why does a nose net require a vet letter?

But HOW will Charlie hear the train with all the goats in it over that adorable get up?? And has he forgiven his owner for their faux pas…? His saddle is not blue…

(He is stunning btw)

We do have a matching blue pad (which was likely in the wash), but no blue bonnet! I am a terrible mom!

Thank you

@beowulf

Here is a better example. Expect the LeMieux bonnet doesn’t seem to fit him very well. I may have to add a string to secure it. He needs the large size for his big head but then the ears are sooooo long bahaha. Can’t have him out in public like that with a bungled bonnet :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

No, I have no knowledge of the mare’s particular circumstances, and in the posts I’m referencing she makes no note of any specific medical issues. Sadly many of us have lost beloved horses under tragic circumstances. But we should all be given the same grace and understanding and I find her attacks against the training methods of others whose circumstances she doesn’t know hypocritical.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on her approach to this discussion.

I fixed it so Charlie can check all the boxes!

LOL thanks for the chuckle

I don’t think I would have thought to try a Fjord in orange but it is very sharp on him! Well done. Of course he’s so handsome he probably looks good in everything!

I love that you coordinate the straps on his Scoots to go with his saddle pad and bonnet. Great job!

So…asking for a friend…where can one acquire a Charlie of their own?

(my trainer is going to kill me; I told her I want a Fjord or Haflinger for my next horse and everyone can chatter about it as much as they want )

A little off topic but I’m very curious. Has anyone ever tried attempting to use a noise cancelling ear bonnet themselves? I’ve never bought one but have always wanted to know how much noise they actually cancel. Not entirely sure how a person would test it but just wondering

You and me both!! I have really fond memories of a fjord that used to be at the barn I rode with… He was so fun… I had more than one midnight gallop up to the hilltop on him. Only problem was he had no withers to speak of – and he learned if he dropped his head while walking down hill you would just slide right off if you were bareback!

Thank you! The orange came a bit naturally as the barn I board at has 800ish acres of trails. During bow and gun season, the BO has a small group of hunters that are permitted to hunt the property so I decided orange was at least a good color for fall and winter. It suits him pretty well!

I grew up riding haflingers - little a**holes, all of them - but I still want one :joy:

You have to be in the right place at the right time with a little bit of luck! I found him as a three year old in 2020 on dream horse and his seller was a sane, communicative, kind and honest older man. It was just shy of a week and a half from the time I inquired until the time he got dropped off. He was broke to drive and green broke to ride, super personality, and pretty typical fjord disposition. He’ been a joy. I got him in the mid 4’s and am always on the lookout for a fjord that is older/broker for my SO. There have been a couple that have gone in the mid-teens at auctions in the last couple weeks.

If you get one, I have to warn you, they can be trouble. Charlie got us Valentines treats yesterday but come to find out, didn’t actually want to share them with us. He made it clear that he felt he should be included in snack time.

I believe @IronwoodFarm breeds Fjords. Maybe they can help you find one.

Yes! And if you do the COTH Christmas Card exchange, their cards are very Fjord-y

The problem with Fjords is that they are an uncommon breed that is in short supply and in high demand. I literally could sell an adult Fjord trained to ride every week without doing an marketing. I get multiple emails every week from people wanting one I get it. Fjords are the best. I do refer people to other sellers I know if there is anything out there.

I’m a breeder, so I have foals. 7 babies coming this year. And they will all have homes by the time they are weaned.

Personally I think everyone should have a Fjord. I adore the breed.

Can I do an IWF “Ask Me Anything”? I’ve noticed your observation about the Fjord market is completely true. My best friend owned a Fjord that sold in a heartbeat when she was outgrown. What I’ve always wondered is, why are there not more Fjord crosses about?

Well, I’d let you know my progress with her if she hadnt died two and a half years after I got her from lymphoma and a fractured pelvis.

She was making progress just fine. Even though she was anxious, I never turned to drugs or gadgets to cover up holes in the training. Takes more than 2.5 years to undo 47 races though.
