dr. micheal dryden is considered the flea guru. he also believes that there is no actual resistance to any flea product (the stuff you veterinary sells in flea/tick preventatives) it comes down to compliance: treating every pet every month with a flea/tick preventative. there is no skipping a month here or there because you don’t see fleas. when you don’t treat, you leave the window open for fleas to set up shop. i treat all my pets, every month even through the winter. if you do have an investation, it takes 3 months to kill off an investation with monthly treatments, in home treatments- constant vigilance…
nymph stage is not a flea stage, it is a tick stage. comfortis is not labeled for cats. be careful about recommending any treatments for dogs for cats because many treatments that are labeled for dogs are toxic to cats.
dawn dishsoap may/ may not work on killing fleas when you bath with it, but dawn (or any dish soap) is an oil stripping soap which means that no matter what topical flea/tick product you are using, you are essentially stripping the flea/tick preventative from your pet’s coat. you will then have to re apply said flea prevention.
if i remember correctly advantage and adavntage II only kill adult fleas. advantix and advantix II only kill adult fleas as well and is not labeled for cats.
