he is super cute!
Loving the TB love, so can’t resist bragging on my new guy who I got out of the Bowie kill pen in May. He came home skinny, really ewe-necked and super sweet but jumped at any loud noise or sudden movement. Was afraid when you turned the hose on, and absolutely forget a flyspray bottle or clippers. He’s 4 but he had such a baby personality, so I just call him Baby Horse half the time. He is SO sweet and loves on anyone-as below loving on the photographer who came to shoot my property. Night before last, he got his bath and even lets me wash his face gently with the hose, doesn’t bat an eye at fly spray and I clipped his bridle path and whiskers like this, standing in the aisle. Plus h’s also really smart and curious, so he wanted to check out the garage while Bounce, the Malibu Moon gelding (divo!) kept watch.
Is that your guard cat by the door
Yes! That’s Jeep. Except that he bails off that chair faster than anything when one of them gets close!! He’s 18 and is not taking any chances anymore.
Wait wait wait…I know I’m late on reading threads, but how did 7 years pass since you bought Peanut?
That was like a couple of years ago…not 7!!!
Well, if we are scoring on a maturity scale it was just a few years ago. But, yes, 2017 is when he came home with me.
that explain it 2017 was only 3 perhaps 4 years ago.
2017 was “the other day…”
Is it maturity just for him? Or maybe you both, hmm? Hey if you own a tb you’ve got to be young at heart. (Says a died hard thoroughbred and standardbred lover)
Jennie Brannigan and TwilightsLastGleam’s dressage/x-c at the Maryland 5* have only added to my Blushing Groom obsession. I see TLG has inherited the Blushing Groom mouth along with speed and general beauty.
I adore that horse- got to see them just baller their way past today in the XC and he looked like he had so much more in the tank at the top of the hill through the crazy water complex! Such a cool horse.
Speaking of OTTB’s and TBs, anyone want to window shop with me?

I do not even dare to look!
Ok so some of those are interesting because they’re from Rocket’s breeder’s herd. He died, they dispersed a bunch into odd places.
I have still not located Rocket yet and I look and comb the interwebs as much as I can.
If anyone wants to help me look…
“Great Rocket” Mare by Officer Rocket out of Goodness Greatness, bred by Bybee Road Farm.
Pic of her cute little face stripe. And full body pic. She would be 11 now. She’s around 15.3h
I was told she was “given/sold” to a PA thoroughbred farm. (Which one they refused to say) and they then gave her away to an “eventer” to breed to warmbloods.
That was 4 years ago I was told that and I have not been able to find her.

Interesting. I live in the Charles Town area so knew of Dennis and semi remember when they started dispersing his horses. O’Sullivan got a few of them. Not sure where the rest went.
I found a FB post of a lady who was dispersing almost all the mares.
Low Key Performance horses, Janice someone.

The majority of h/j trainers now. Sadly most have zero idea how to train nor manage a tb.
Won’t own another Thoroughbred for the same reason I won’t own another Belgain Malinois.
Aww…I have both. I’m gonna keep 'em.
I’ve heard tales of BMal’s eating car seats and clearing 6 ft fences so I can understand that! But a good tb is a horse that the harder they work the better they are. Mine did hunters (low level because I’m scared to jump big), dressage to 1st level (limited by me), endurance, trail rides, english/western open shows at fairs… I absolutely love their ‘get on, sit down, and hold on’ personalities.
