Are these wide stirrup leathers really more stabilizing then regular? If not, what is the appeal? I’m intrigued by them!
that is the idea. Some people swear by them and others say a gimmick. I will have my first ride in them tonight so I’ll let you know!

I have found that the wide leathers do stabilize your leg somewhat. I did not have huge problems with instability before, though, so I wouldn’t necessarily expect there to be a huge different.
They’re also much less likely to pinch your legs if you ever ride without tall boots or chaps. And they also (in my experience) tend to mark the saddle flaps less (possibly because they’re shifting less).
