OK. :cowboy_hat_face:

You will not be surprised to hear that I do not consider Major League Baseball, NFL Football, Nascar, Formula 1, MotoGP, or Horse Racing as “sports”. They are ALL “entertainment”.

@Janet- Why can’t they be both? To the player or rider, the athlete that is, they are sports. To the person watching it might be entertainment. I don’t see why jumping, MLB, NFL, etc. has to be either/or.

Exactly. I’m not entirely sure what Janet would consider a “sport” at all at this point, nor am I entirely sure that it matters.

Intramural (and community league) Baseball, Football, Volleyball, etc. are sports, not entertainment.
Most SCCA, VSCA (cars), and ASRA, WERA, AHRMA (motorcycles) races are sports, not entertainment.
Schooling (horse) shows, and many smaller recognized shows are sports, not entertainment.

Sure, they can be both. But when the rules start to prioritize the entertainment value to the detriment of the sport, then you lose the sport to the entertainment. I think that’s what the OP was getting at, not sure they intended to make this wider point but it’s a valid point, and one that I share.
