Wintec all purpose saddle

Am I the only one who likes my Wintec 2000? I find it very comfortable and secure for trail riding and fox hunting, and I have no problem jumping up to about 2’6". I really need to get it out for hacking my young horse, to save wear and tear on his nice jump saddle.

I posted another thread looking for opinions in the off course section of the forum and nearly everyone there had good things to say about wintecs. I just don’t think it’s terribly popular for hunters or showing. I wanted a synthetic for the easy care and to use for trail riding as well as a few local shows but ended up.choosing a.thorowgood since it has wool flocking.

I posted in the other threads… I have always liked the 2000 and I love my Wintec Pro AP. I also feel quite comfortable in it doing beginner novice level eventing stuff.

But if the end goal is hunters, I don’t think it’s a great saddle choice.

People always say “the judge doesn’t care,” but that is bull IMO. It may be true to some degree at the highest levels of the sport where the judges are licensed professionals and everyone is impeccable in way of going and turnout. But at the unrated levels, you don’t know what you’re going to encounter. Judges are often local trainers with chips on their shoulders or their own weird beliefs (I say this as someone who spent a lot of time judging in my younger years). And the classes can have such a disparity of ability that sometimes that you need to judge superficial appearance just to make a placing. “Do I pin the racking TWH who is turned out beautifully or the pinto covered in manure stains who picked up the wrong lead?”

Sorry for the side rant. Congrats on the new saddle, OP!

Thanks, yes I agree if I was planning to do hunters mostly then a brown leather close contact would be the best definitely. However I thought about it and realistically to get there we have a long way to go and if I do any showing at all this year it will be a schooling show & likely just for fun because my guy has never been to any shows before and I’m rusty at riding in general let alone jumping.lol

I have a Wintec 2000 and LOVE it. I switched from riding Western and was afraid I’d feel exposed in an AP saddle. I have found this model to be quite the opposite. No slipping at all.

Best of luck to the OP.
