When it starts hitting frostbite temps…hit up the heated stuff:

You can get decent battery heated gloves and socks nowadays starting around $30.
Worth it for those fingertips.
They even make socks that have the pockets built in for the warming packs too, LOL!
Another vote for the SSG 10 Belows. I will freely admit that I don’t ride when the ground is frozen, so I can’t swear how the gloves do in the teens. I love them because they are the only winter gloves I’ve ridden in that don’t feel too bulky or slippery and I am picky about riding gloves.
Just picked up these

So far so good, but we haven’t had too many days below 20 yet…
Try silk liners, those are supposed to help a lot.
I have survived several Canadian prairie winters in an unheated indoor with the SSG Pro Show winter gloves.

I just bought a pair of the mittens for the really cold days, you know, under -20 Celsius. Haven’t tried them yet as we have only gotten to -15 Celsius so far this winter. Most days have been a balmy -10 Celsius. Freaky warm!
Any tips on those of us whose toes get cold?
I am the one who washes the horses prior to the ride and my feet always get wet and then it is over, they are cold for hours.
In fact they get cold while sitting down at work but that is another thing altogether. I have heard that if you put cyanne pepper on your feet the oils in it will increase the circulation but I have used too much paprika not to know how such a spice would stain.
I really like the Ariat Tek winter gloves as well, but these are even warmer and waterproof: http://www.amazon.com/Youngstown-Waterproof-Winter-Gloves-Shipping/dp/B000BMVFME
You can also add pogies (something that rowers and kayakers use, but they actually work fine on reins and then you can wear a regular winter riding glove inside and be super toasty) http://nextadventure.net/glacier-glove-fleece-lined-pogies.html

Toe warmers and smartwool or fleece socks. Also invest in some waterproof (or at least relatively waterproof) boots. I can ride fine in my ariat brossards (tall boots, super warm and comfy). With smartwool socks and toewarmers, I am happy riding down to 15 degrees and I am the biggest cold weenie ever
These got me through a Canadian winter in an unheated arena last year:

This year we’ve moved to a heated arena, and it’s been so crazy warm that I haven’t even bothered with winter gloves - I’m using cotton pebble gloves.
