Hi guys,
So, the new “baby pony” is almost ready to go “out in public” and discover the big scary world outside of the Amish country.
Any recommendations for hunter/jumper schooling shows in the IA/MN/WI areas?
Thanks!
Can you narrow area down a little more?
Nothing in Iowa this time of year
Not much going on in MN either till May for HJ/dressage/eventing…
QH and breed shows start much earlier-- perhaps for exposure consider an open show or saddle club type outing? (I don’t know much about them myself but they can be an economical starting point).
Check out Fields and fences equestrian center in IL. They have a lot of indoor shows over the winter months.
I know there is a place in Delano, MN that does small hunter/dressage schooling shows during the winter. However, they are usually pretty small, and not worth going to unless you are already pretty close.
The Twin Cities area has a schooling show series called the Red Pine series, but I don’t know if they have shows in the winter or only during the spring and summer.
Thank you all!

Well, I am about 4 hours from “everything” (Twin Cities, Madison, Des Moines) - so anything in that triangle really.

Great idea! It would be perfect for exposure! And I know there are QH shows and other breed shows much closer to me. Now, on to googling what on earth one is supposed to do in Hunter Under Saddle and Hunter Hack…

That’s Len Danielson’s place, North Run Farm in Delano.
There’s the Huntermark Winter Series - the first show of 2015 is this Sunday: http://www.huntermarkfarm.com/winterschedule.htm They are in the Quad Cities area of IA/IL.

Yes! That’s it. Thanks, I couldn’t quite remember the name of the place. Only been there once.
Once upon a time there was a winter schooling series in Huxley or Slater, IA… I think it was the “Snowflake Series”.
ETA - as I now think about it more, that would have been about 15 years ago, so I kind of doubt it’s still around.
I remember the Snowflake Series! Went to a few when I was still in college…we’re talking circa 2000, 2001?

Yeah… I think the last time I went might have even been in the late 90’s (1997-1999)?
Huntermark in Coal Valley Il (right by Iowa) hosts a winter schooling series- they are wonderful! Great people. There are shows every month
