Womanly-sized riders, unite!

More choices in non-custom XX-wide-calf dress boots (18"+). It would also be nice for us plus-sized women who live in cold places to be able to have tall winter boots…

I have the hardest time finding show coats that fit across my oddly broad shoulders (I have to go up 6 sizes) that will button across my chest. I have to get every jacket I’ve ever owned altered because I’m only big uptop, and narrow down to a 30" waist and small hips. I love some of the top name brands and have found the R.J. Classics, which is a nice name brand coat maker, carries up to a size 24. The sizes are also US sizes, unlike the sizes of Grandprix and Marigold. The jackets range from around $100 to $400 depending on the quality you want, which can make for a very affordable hunt coat! This is an amazing for the rider wanting a quality, name brand coat that FITS!

Go to their website www.rjclassics.com which you can order right off of!

Arete, I’m still looking for full-seat breeches in white that will fit over my 19.5" calves!

Phew, I’m a 10/12 in jeans, I consider myself ‘curvy’. I can barely strap myself in to the Ariat breeches in a 36! At least now I know I’m not the only one! And that there may be hope of finding comfortable, stylish breeches out there somewhere!

OF course, my hips aren’t that wide, I’m just thick around the middle, so plus sized stuff tends to pools around my non-existant arse. :’(

HD, last winter Outback sold a nice quilted vest up to size XXL, and it was a true size XXL. It is a little longer so it covers the stomach and some of the butt, it has adjustable tabs at the waist with elastic on the back of the waist, and a two-way zipper (which I love, because I can unzip the bottom a little when I’m riding). I was so excited to find a nice quilted vest that fit me, that I bought it in three different colors…

Ariat also had an XXL vest, which fit, but the cut isn’t as nice.

I am right there with ya, and I am still loving the Irideon Stretch Cord full seats… and they come in white… and they’re as kind as I’ve seen, for white breeches… if ya know what I mean.

HD, re the vests,I bought a nice vest from Avenue last winter in black, navy, red and brown. I got a lovely Mountain Horse one from BBer nhwr in rust, which is also a lovely cut plus size vest. Go to www.eddiebauer.com for nice lightweight down vests, which are also in plus sizes and have a strap at the back to tailor it.

So back to stuff we’d really like. How about a nice deep navy dressage coat with a piped collar? And a black one? Something European-looking and not just putting gold buttons on a Joe Black Coat?

I’m with Coreene on this one, too! Although I’m thrilled to simply just have a decent looking dressage coat that fits, it would be lovely to have something a little more stylin’.

On Saturday evening, I went to a dressage show at Morven Park in Leesburg, and there was a woman (from MRK Designs in Maryland, I think) there selling clothing and bags, and she had some VERY nice microfibre quilted vests. They were around $50, but they had a little horse embroidered on them, and they’re very flattering - adjustable waist, longer in the back, bigger armholes for movement, etc. I ended up getting mine in an XXL because of my chest, and it is so cute that I can’t wait for fall to get here! When I get home tonight, I’ll look at the brand name of it and post it here. She also had some nice fleece jackets and Columbia jackets as well with embroidered dressage horses over the heart.

ETA: OK, here is a link to the vest I bought - http://www.griffinbrook.com/what’s_new.htm. It is the PRI 2020 Vest on the second row and it comes in some really cool colors! I might have to order a purple one…

They are darling!

Oh, and another thing on the coat. Have it look like a proper dressage coat on the back as well.

Has anyone seen the the “polo” type shirts with the numbers on in Plus size?

twnkltoz – got my Irideon white fullseats in the mail yesterday and they fit over my 20" calves (ok, snugly, but they do…). See if you can find some to try on.

Today (hopefully) the Kerrit’s ventilator in the red floral design arrives. <bouncing with excitement over new riding clothes>

Cool Sheri, thanks! oh…how expensive were they? Will my husband freak?

They run from $100 - $120, depending on where you can find them. Not everyone
carries the fullseats in plus sizes. I believe Coreene got them from Dover for $99
or so, but had to phone in the order to get the sale price.
Browse that last few pages of this thread to see…she had the item number and everything.
I would have done that, but was also looking for the Kerrit’s Ventilator shirts in the tropical prints and ordered mine for a bit more from someone that had the shirt I wanted. As it all worked out, they were out of stock on the shirt and I ended up ordering directly from Kerrits and having to get a 1x rather than 2x. Still, I’m pretty
happy with both purchases! Last night I threatened to wear the entire ensemble out
to school in tomorrow morning – THAT would brighten up all this gray weather!!

Speaking of my $99 breeches, the Dover elite dressage catalog has them still for $99. I could actually get them for $99 online; I called because when I ordered them they had a special where if you bought a pair of Irideon breeches, you got a t-shirt free, and that part wouldn’t come up online.

Just as an aside, the Irideon XL t-shirt must be for an XL Barbie.

GAH, I’m so tempted!!!

Ok, now that my eyes are burning from reading all 35 pages I will thank all of you for posting links to the clothes and boots.

I have the ribbed Irieons too and like them a lot! (my calves change from 19-20" depending on the time of year, lol) I emailed Arete about plus size stuff and they said they were going to order the stretch cords for the fall. She also said that she could special order anything from Irideon if I needed anything earlier, or something they don’t normally stock.
