Would you buy a thin 19 year old horse?

Ugh! Rained out again! It’s rained over 2" here in 2 days. Trying again next weekend!

Hoping 3rd time is a charm, going to trail ride her tomorrow! No rain tomorrow is forecasted, but we’ve had a couple inches in the last two days!

Keeping everything crossed and wait8mg for an update

I DID buy a thin 19-yo horse! He was exactly what I was looking for at the time and I loved him dearly. I had him for 6 years before putting him down last fall and he was an absolute joy. DH and I both learned SO SO much from him and will cherish the memories we made with him forever. We knew we had limited time with him, but we went into it with realistic expectations and it was a wonderful experience. I’m getting a little teary-eyed just thinking about my sweet old man - I miss him!!

UPDATE: went to ride her today and she was thinner than I remembered and quite lame. :frowning:
So definitely going to pass.

Oh, so sorry. Well at least you gave her a chance.

Poor girl, but don’t blame you for passing.

I was hoping for a good update

I was sad, but just not meant to be. In her defense, she did lose both front shoes, but I was told she could go barefoot without issue. Obviously not! I don’t mind shoes but if she’s that lame without them might be more going on. She was decent on the little path we rode (turned back once I felt how sore she was), but definitely not quiet enough for my son out of the ring. So the search continues.

Sorry to hear that but thanks for updating us. The right one is out there!

Even a horse with good feet can be sore when losing a shoe . The fact that she was even thinner than you remember and the fact that they still had you come and ride her after she threw both front shoes tells me that she is probably lacking in all forms of proper care.
