Maybe, but she hasn’t offered (I asked if she, or anyone she knew would be interested in helping me sell him). One of my clients who likely could ride him, is giving her own horse time off in November and offered to ride him if he isn’t sold/leased by then.
If he has potential as an equitation horse perhaps you can find a trainer that has that type of program, and the clients that would be interested.
Equitation horses are special beings.
Wishing you the best in your health struggles. I’m there too.
he actually probably would make an eq horse, but I don’t think there are many specialist barns in my area as Equitation classes aren’t as much a specialty here as in regions with more opportunities. I think people are put off by his breed (saddlebred). Not a common breed for jumping even though he doesn’t really look saddlebred.
A jumper coach I took a couple lessons with in early 2021 is going to put some rides on him for me so we can get video, and I will give her a commission if she facilitates his sale. She hasn’t seen him since, but she liked him then (we stopped because of Covid restrictions, and then her schedule got too busy). I have a couple clients that are willing to ride him a bit to keep him somewhat fit, but he has never been a horse that needs riding to stay sane.
I am not able to be objective about selling him, but she feels my price is right/low.
I am a little frustrated by people thinking he is priced too high - I priced just slightly above what similar height at the track thoroughbreds with puffy knees are selling for - but they don’t know him, so hopefully new video will help. I had someone tell me he is too green and will need a complete restart…after 3 weeks off? Yes, my video is over a year old, and I only show a 2 foot prix caprilli test, but that is why I am offering a trial…I also have video showing him w/t/c bridle-less (again, from 2021) which shows he understands self carriage off leg (both how he carries himself and holds the same tempo/speed).
Yes, I am feeling hurt that others don’t appreciate how awesome he is. I would be happy for him to go to some deserving kid/young adult to bring along and spilt with when he sells, but no idea how to find a situation like that either. It is possible they don’t exist anymore.
I’m always amazed how insulting people can be. I’m sorry…I think he sounds very, very nice.
Buyers can absolutely suck these days. Don’t let them get you down. The right person is out there. Stick to your guns.
Also, if you think a horse is priced too high, then don’t buy it. Simple as that. He sounds like he’s priced right for what I’m seeing in my area -FWIW. Pleasant off breed with some talent and good basics? Easily low fives.
He sounds absolutely lovely, and I wish you were in my neck of the woods!
Trainer coming to hack my horse today. I am oddly nervous. I am sure he will be thrilled with the attention! Fingers crossed his nemesis the moose isn’t around.
She loved him. Just a w/t/c ride, but will jump next week. He was an over stimulated in the barn, but a good boy in the arena. He is a unique horse and it was nice to have someone appreciate the work I put on him.
He sounds like a good egg, I’m partial to ASBs.
He does sound like a good boy. I wish you luck, whatever ends up happening.
