Everyone I’ve heard from said the same thing, shes just been tiny her whole life thus far! I did the string test this past weekend, and she measured right around 14 3/4 inches, which would put her around 14.3.
If I’m being realistic, I’m sure my filly will end up in the same boat as your checkmate filly in that 15 hand range. sigh
@tatertots yours looks a lot like mine! I will try to find a picture. Thankfully mine has an amazing jump and big step. We are hoping to do baby greens this spring and I’m pretty sure she’ll make it down the lines. I am only 5’2" thankfully. I am keeping mine as a future broodmare and am somewhat concerned about size but since all of her family on both sides are normal sized horses I just hope that her babies will be too. It is strange that she is so much smaller than both of her parents.
Well, if your horse is pony or so sized, that can be an advantage in the show ring. Oh, the number of strides you’ll have to prepare for things! Use it to your advantange over the 17hh horses!
ETA: what will be her job?
Yes, please! I’d love to see your filly! She sounds very much like Corey’s twin!
I’m 5’3, so thankfully I can ride the pony/hony size still! I’m having her broke in May, so we’ll see what her future holds! I free jumped her last weekend, and man oh man is she would make a cute hunter!

The broodmare piece also went through my mind, I would love a Cunningham baby from her. But foal size does make me a bit concerned! Thankfully none of these decisions need to be made anytime soon, so I can think through it all
Jumping is adorable! I have to ride her with a neck strap at all times because she is so wee and jumps so round.
oooh, I have a Cunningham breeding to use. Unfortunately did not get the mare in foal last year that I was planning him for, but going to try again next month. I am using him on my Baltic x Indoctro mare for a jumper actually. I have thought about getting a second breeding to him to try for a hunter out of my mare that throws more hunter types.
I have a coming 3-year old this April (Cartell 1 x Consul) and we sticked her at just 15.3hh. Dam was quite large at 16.2hh but sire was nearly pony size, I want to say 15hh. Her breeders string tested her at 16.2hh - 16.3hh but I just don’t see that happening.
Not sure what sort of growth spurts are considered normal over the age of 3, but to give you some hope, my barn mate purchased her 2 1/2 year old warmblood gelding at 15hh. He’s now coming 4, and his bum is nearing 17.2hh! He looks like a lanky, oversized foal.
I was hoping she would be my future amateur owner hunter! But I don’t mind having a fancy small jumper too
I have a coming 3 year old filly by Diamond stud. She is 15.1 right now. Starting to look very compact and put together, perhaps very slightly bum high at the moment. The dam consistently has babies around 16 hands so she won’t be a monster (which I am thankful for!). My filly will be more of the old school dressage look… thick and compact. Nothing modern about her
