Your Area’s Tack Shop and COVID19 Practices

I’m pretty sure the scientists have taken that into account. Research IS showing that the spread of the virus is drastically reduced when everyone wears a mask and the countries that required mask usage early have the numbers to back it up. Im sick of everyone thinking they’re entitled to their own personal beliefs and wishes on science issues and disregarding what scientists say. If 2+2=4 you don’t get to have an opinion that it’s 853. I’m so over this.

The masks are so that if you have the coronavirus, but don’t know it, you don’t spread it to others through coughing, sneezing, etc. So they are not about protecting yourself, they are about protecting others. In my personal opinion, choosing not to wear a mask shows you don’t care about others in your community.

That or people are just too dumb if they haven’t grasped this concept yet.

My local store isn’t doing anything. I’m not going there; if they’re not wearing masks or even acknowledging the Coronavirus, I’m assuming they’re not cloraxing surfaces either or taking other precautions. I’ve been driving farther afield to a store that has curbside, you call in your order and the kid wears a mask and drops it in your backseat, and they just opened their store with limits on numbers. And they still offer curbside. I’m using curbside as long as it’s available. And shipping, when I’m over the $ amt for free shipping (twist my arm)

My local tack shop has been fabulous! While closed they were easily accessible via their website, phone, instagram, fb messages, you name it! Curbside pickup FTW! Now that our area is in Phase Two they are open for shoppers but still offering curbside pickup for those of us who need it. Taking every precaution, and even selling masks. They really saved the day for my mom’s birthday this year!

Virus can be carried on water droplets coming off of other people. Distance that these water droplets typically travel is reduced to under six feet if a person is masked. Hence mask plus six-foot distancing.

I think you have to be responsible for yourself and not expect other people to do it for you because they may not. Don’t go to places where you don’t feel safe. If you need something at a tack shop ask them if you can do curbside pickup. Otherwise just shop elsewhere.

My local tack shop (which, in reality, is one of the larger online retailers in the country) has been offering drive-through pickup for quite a while now. They just opened to shoppers Thursday. I needed a few things and thought I would check out the lay of the land, so to speak. Not only did all the employees have masks on, masks were available for FREE as you entered the lobby. This told me that they care a lot about their customers and their employees.

Local Dover is open by appointment to minimize number of people in store. Masks are required. For those who prefer, curbside pickup on prepaid orders is available.
I agree that we are responsible for our own safety. Bring your own wipes, minimize touching things. If you are not comfortable, stay home or order curbside.

You may touch your face all you like, but when your breath inadvertently touches my face, I object. Your reason for not wearing a mask is silly and non respectful to the rest of the world. I hope you have no one in the vulnerable group among your immediate contacts.

My local tack shop is FABULOUS. They are absolutely wearing masks, and having customer do the same. The store is limited to only 2 customers at a time, and hand sanitizer is readily available. If you prefer curbside pick-up that is an option as will. They are also offering free shipping on their website with no minimum purchase order.

If you want to support a wonderful tack shop that is being responsible during this pandemic check out https://www.quailhollowtack.com/ !

Herein lies the problem. With this virus you(g) are responsible for the safety of others around you(g). As data comes in, it shows more and more how important the spread of the virus is via asymptomatic transmission. That means you(g) can be responsible for spreading the virus without even knowing. Masks are most effective at preventing the transmission from the wearer to others - that is why they have always been worn in surgical and medical areas. Respirators (N95, etc) are primarily designed to protect the wearer, although certainly they would also protect others at the same time.

Local tack shop has limited openning hours when it is staffed by one person who deals with online and phone orders and it has curbside collection.

I’m ambiguous about wearing masks - with a medical training. Inside an enclosed space, probably, so I don’t worry other people. I’m thinking about including some images of people wearing masks in my photo diary of the lockdown: the people wearing them under their chins, hanging off one ear, over their mouth but not their nose and, my fav, on top of their head.

Think of it like a busy warmup arena with 50 riders. You can be responsible by keeping your own horse under control and managing your space wisely. But unless everyone else is also doing that, that warmup arena will be a shit show and people will get hurt.

I’ll chime in!

Our local tack shop, Olson’s Tack, in Bellevue WA is doing curbside pick up and appointment only shopping. They are also doing online fittings for helmets & boots. Brilliant! I hope it continues because as a mom, it’s not always easy for me to get into the shop.

They have a website and are easy to contact (you can text their store number!), so even if you don’t live in WA state, you can still support a small business if you’re unhappy with how your local retailer is handling COVID.

really proud to shop there when I can.

Which state?

Beagle oil.

(1) If you don’t feel “safe” due to virus risk factors, staying home (self-isolation) is YOUR choice to make.

(2) So is opting for online, contactless shopping. 100% of tack store items nationwide are available this way.

(3) Even N95 masks are incapable of stopping VIRUSES. Anything less might stop largest droplets only.

(4) If you don’t feel well, STAY HOME if you want to feel “responsible for the safety of others around you.”

(5) Most tack store shopping is “nonessential” as first aid products and meds can be obtained from your vet.

(6) Your state has either stipulated masks in stores, or they haven’t. If not, you have the option to go home or take your business elsewhere if you don’t like how the place is being run. Chances are they are in local compliance.

(7) Don’t tell other people what to do and how to live their lives; the chances are it won’t be received favorably, and your new nickname will be “Karen!”
