Your Craigslist Horse!

Love love love this thread…does my heart good to see the transformations. Wish I had my pictures available so I could share the CL stories.

These are great stories. Thanks for sharing them.

Fivesocks,

Saddlebred Rescue has a cold case squad that is very very adept at tracking down a Saddlebred’s identity. If you send them pictures and all the info you have, they may be able to figure out who he is. I only know about them through the SBR forum, and have never had any luck getting logged in on it, but contact SBR and ask them how to get in touch with the cold case group. The saddlebred registry has a very searchable data base - you can search markings, for instance.

He is one beautiful horse! Kudos for bringing him back to such wonderful health!

CL horses - living miracles!

Thanks oldernewbie! I will investigate tomorrow! I don’t know much err anything about gaited horses or saddlebreds, but he has some extra gears, and a few people who has seen him said he looked saddlebred. He certainly doesn’t look like the few TWHs I’ve been around

He started out extremely behind the bit and seemed to know how to curl, but wouldn’t take actual contact. He would carry himself in a frame even on a long loose rein. Lots of tension, extremely forward thinking . Super sensitive to lower leg contact. To shift up, you don’t press with your heel or lower leg, you simply almost consider tensing up your calf muscle and he reads your mind to go faster  neck reins well and direct reins. Great in the ring but can become tense and anxious and strong if out in the open fields. With another horse for company, he will happily take you over/through/or towards any scary non-horse-friendly challenge you want to go on trails… Sound like a saddlebred? Oh and he’s very people friendly. He was def starved yet doesn’t have any food issues.
