Your Feeding Routine

Morning: say hello to the horses while I walk through the part of the pasture between the house and the barn, where they’re waiting for me. I may also meow at a barn cat or tell the puppy to stop barking at the cat(s). I hope the horses start trotting as they follow me down the hill and go around the barn, and if they do, they all get a quick soundness evaluation as they trot past. I go in one end of the barn, the horses let themselves in the other. They get fed and locked in, and the barn cats get fed.

Mid-day - another flake of hay

Evening: Feed, muck. If my son is home he does the water and dumps the wheelbarrow for me, otherwise I do. Open stall doors and put the cat food away for the night (raccoons).

In the winter the mid-day hay becomes just before bed hay and they’re in at night instead of during the day.
