09 AHS Inspections at North Star Farm

Did anyone on COTH attend this Inspection on Aug 17th? Or perhaps know info about this years inspection.

Basically I am just curious how many fillies were presented.

Do they name a top filly even if there are only 2 fillies? and or if the foals are mediocre? Im not very familiar with the AHS inspections.

Thank you in advance!!

Did not go there but they can pick a top filly anytime. The AHS does not give foals official scores but likes to give comments for each individual and they will usually announce which one they liked/ looked best that day to them. With 2 fillies the comments are more meaningful than the placing obviously and they do not make a big deal out of it, no ribbons but in a large group or in case of a very nice one they will bring the top choice back, if time allows so people can see.

I attended the inspection and just dug through the notes I took on the program. There were some wonderful horses, and I wouldn’t have minded at all if a few of them had followed me home.

As Edgar pointed out, foals are not scored, and the inspection team delivered a few comments for each of them. I didn’t hear the comments for every foal.

7 very nice fillies were presented. The the inspection team named the a lovely DeNoir-Harmonie/Hohenstein filly as the top for the day.

There were 5 colts, and a Graf Top II-Kamet/Hail Bold King xx was named the top colt.

4 non-Hanoverian mares were presented, and two were accepted into the Main Studbook. THe champion non-Hanoverian mare with a score of 7.33 was Sterntaler, an Oldenburg mare by Sterntaenzer and out of an Argentinus daughter. This mare had good substance while still being typey and very feminine.

4 Hanoverian mares were presented, and all were accepted. The champion Hanoverian mare was a truly spectacular 3 y.o. bred here in the US by Janet Grunbok. This outstanding mare is by Royal Prince and out of an Ahorn daughter. She received an 8.16, which has to put her near the top in terms of scores for this year’s inspection tour.

No mares took the MPT.

Molliwog!
Thank you! I am actually the proud mom of the De Noir filly, DeLage. I was in Iraq when Dela went to her inspections, and still remember receiving the email from her breeder telling me how well she did and I absolutely freaked out. Shortly there after we started heading home, which takes about 6-8 weeks, and amid all of that I was getting everything together for Dela’s move across country. It wasnt until we both finally got home I was able to look into her inspection site, but couldnt find anything via search engines, so thankfully you found my post! Thank you again!
Ill keep COTH updated on her!

Bumping this old thread - my 5 year old mare I recently purchased is the daughter of Sterntaler (sire Danone I) and I’m very pleased with her. Good temperament, excellent movement, very feminine. I didn’t know her dam was so accomplished.
