130 TB's seized/surrendered in Virginia

All I know is what I’m seeing on FB, from what I’ve read the horses are from a defunct TB breeding operation in Shenandoah, Va.

Central Virginia Horse Rescue, Hopes Legacy Equine, Richmond Animal Care and Control and others are taking them in as fast as they can. They are all asking for fosters, donations and supplies.

I can’t foster but I can spread the word!

From photos I’ve seen, these 3 at RACC are no where near the worst of them. CVHR said in a post that the body scores of 1.5 and up.

130 horses in condition like these pictured? My heart just breaks.

Every time a seizure of horses like this occurs, I wonder how on earth anyone could choose to look the other way, or not seek help. You almost have to want the horses to starve and be miserable.

I’m especially drawn to the sweet face and kind eyes on that little bay mare, Nutmeg. I hope she survives and thrives.

Oh my heavens. I’ll look in my local groups and see if any info. I know my vet helped process some of the horses.

Friend’s daughter is a farrier in VA.
I screenshot the story & will share to her FB page.

So sad, but not all hoarders are abusers.
The numbers just get away from them, they “lose the thread” that had them acquiring & caring for horses competently. Pride can prevent asking for help, or even acknowledging they’re in over their heads.
TG these horses have been taken into care by authorities.

Very often the owner has lost capacity, been hospitalized or died, and care has been sliding for a while then catastrophe.
