Another very sad accident. My condolences to her family.
very very sad… prayers for her family and friends.
How horrifying for her family. So young, so sad.
I will keep her in my thoughts.
“Unfortunately, Olivia’s horse made a mistake and hit the obstacle which meant the horse fell and landed on her,’ a Scone Horse Trials spokeswoman told Sydney Morning Herald.
She said the jump was about 1.1m high.”
Very sorry for the parents. I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child.
I wish the spokesman could have waited before assessing any blame for the fall. Maybe it was the horse, maybe not, but really does it matter? This is a tragic loss for the family.
It’s time to bring back the EXO.
So tragic, her family is very prominent in racing circles I believe

Thought I had my hands on one, but it didn’t fit. I was so disappointed, as the design made sense.
So sorry for her parents, friends and the sport.

it was the mainstream media asking questions - you don’t get to announce the sudden death of a young competitor at a subsequently cancelled (public) event and not tell them the basics of what happened.
there’s NO ‘good’ way to announce something like that.
there just isn’t.
Olivia Inglis’ death could be the catalyst the fei needs so an actual independent inquest/inquiry is done into the plethora of worlwide deaths at eventing competitions since the mid 90’s.
her family don’t just have “deep pockets”, they’re bottomless. they also have connections to/are on first name basis with people that even world leaders have to stand in line to be introduced, to.
RIP Olivia - may your death not be in vain.

I’m very sorry, but still relatively new to eventing. What is EXO?

The air jackets have always been more popular
And I have just checked, the EXO does require an allen key to undo after a fall. Big minus for that design feature IMO. At least airjackets unclip, even with shaking, shocky fingers
Condolences to her family and friends. How tragic.

There is simply no comparison to the protection offered by the EXO v the air jacket. The EXO is rigid, the air jacket is not. One can protect you from the crush injuries and blunt force trauma that kill you, the other cannot.
The EXO has an allen key in a clearly marked pocket on the outside. The allen key is to dismantle the cage – it comes apart easily – but the EXO also has clips on the side and, in fact, does unclip.
When WoofWear was making the EXO, they provided allen keys to all ambulances and course medics, so it was a non-issue.

Yes, yes! Popularity ALWAYS equates to safer!

My ‘other daughter’ was there, getting ready to ride. Big shake up. Very sad.
RIP Olivia and condolences to all her friends and family. So sad
Tragic…whether in a riding accident or car accident…hate to hear of the loss of someone so young. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
17 yr old girl… too too young. My heartfelt condolences to her connections and loved ones.
Absolutely tragic. My heart goes out to them.
It appears that Coriolanus sustained injuries worse than originally known:
Unfortunately Olivia’s much loved horse Coriolanus has suffered injuries much worse than originally reported. Following advice from Scone Equine Hospital, Coriolanus was euthanised earlier today after x-rays revealed he was suffering from a displaced fracture in his neck. He was a talented competitor and loved family member and will be sadly missed.

Just My Personal Thoughts…
This is tragic for sure. I am wondering why there is not an age limit set for riders. For me personally, I feel this is too young to be riding at that level. Even if they have been riding most of their life, and on a stellar horse, for me it’s still too young.
We all know that young minds, especially teenagers, function differently. Anyway her age and the level were the first thing that came to mind when I read about the accident.
My condolences go out to her family and friends.
